![]() After a bit of practice, it all flows very well, and at times its easy to forgot you’re playing a turn-based game. To help with this a timeline is displayed on screen that indicates the order that every character’s action will occur, thus allowing players to plan ahead accordingly. The player has a variety of offensive (shoot, strike, takedown) and defensive (dodge, parry) actions at their disposal and using the right action at the right time is the key to success. It’s not an obvious direction for a game based on a movie franchise that is largely about fast paced action, but it does work pretty well. In gameplay terms, John Wick Hex is essentially a turn-based strategy game where the player has to make their way through hex-based levels using various moves and actions to defeat the enemies. John Wick, of course, is the man to rescue them. So nice to also hear the Late Lance Reddick voicing his icon character from the John Wick movie series. Tons of replayability if you up to the punishment and some trophies would be too much for most to attempt (me included). One has to be mindful of your resource usage and placement of said resources since if you run out too early you might have to restart an entire stage. I have to replay some sections numerous times. I can understand that players could get stuck in certain sections due to the difficulty spikes, perhaps leading to lower scores. The action is fast and furious (even though it is turn based), when the action starts you need to think fast and cleverly utilizing all Johns available skills to get out of extremely difficult situations.
